HP Velotechnik to debut new ErgoMesh HS at Eurobike

HP Velotechnik has unveiled on their site the new ErgoMesh HS seat for their Scorpion line of recumbent trikes. The HS stands for "high seat" (hochsitz) and certainly lives up to the moniker providing an 18" seat height on the Scorpion fx and just under 16" on an fs.

The additional height, however, comes with a limitation:

The high seating allows easy entry and exit and provides good visibility, but this requires a more moderate running speed in tight turns.

Makes perfect sense, but then they get a little crazy:

This is the new high for a reclining seat tricycle ideal for people who prefer less sporty road handling and instead would prefer very simple on-off and very good visibility.

While the height certainly will ease getting in and out of the seat, I wouldn't go so far as to say it represents a record high seat height for trikes. The Cycle Genius Phoenix is way up there.

The seat will make its public debut at Eurobike 2009 and will be available for purchase shortly thereafter.
